2016 holds great potential for being one of the scariest years on record. Danger abounds both locally and abroad. The local and world headlines from the news paint a bleak picture of what’s to come.
-In Iraq alone, ISIS has killed an estimated 170,000 people, most of which have been Christians and Shiite Muslims. ISIS has also killed 10’s of thousands of others in Syria and Libya.
-Russia blatantly provokes the US by routinely flying within miles of US airspace and their subs lurk close by in US coastal waters.
-North Korea is suspected to now have a long-range missile that is capable of reaching US shores and is able to carry nuclear warheads.
-Iran pulled off a major political and military victory to publicly proceed with the nuclear ambitions which puts Israel and the US in grave danger.
-China has beefed up its military over the last decade. They now have the capacity to sink our largest and most powerful aircraft carrier with just one ‘ship killer’ missile.
-Around the world, the mark of the beast becomes even more of a reality as biometric companies, cooperating with the world banking system, move ever closer to the creation of a world cashless society.
-The ever-increasing militarization of the US police continues unabated. Are they for us or against us?
-Terrorism seems to have finally hit home in the US with more to come to be sure.
-The ‘soft’ persecution of Christians in the US continues with no end and sight and around the world, Christians are paying with their lives for their belief in Christ.
-Israel is under attack from within by Palestinians and is under increasing pressure from world leaders to submit to a 2-party state deal which would divide Jerusalem.
-The climate change hoax rolls full steam ahead which will ultimately give the UN complete control over US citizens.
-Church denominations are falling left and right to the gay agenda and many others are going down the wide way by accepting false doctrines.
And there’s even more going on all over the world and in our own backyards that could easily strike fear in our hearts if we let it. The theme of fear and control is thick in the media. How much are we willing to give up to the government for the illusion of safety?
BUT..there is hope for the believer! As Christians, we need to be wise and we need to be prudent. It is good to be aware of what is happening around the world and locally but, we must have balance. We must understand the times we are living in but we must also remember that God is always in control and we are in His hands. We must keep things in perspective while remembering God’s words to us:
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” – Isaiah 41:10
“When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.” – Psalm 56:3
“Peace is what I leave with you; it is my own peace that I give you. I do not give it as the world does. Do not be worried and upset; do not be afraid.” – John 14:27
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” – Psalm 46:1
We must hold on to the Word and we must keep our eyes on Jesus. Be watchful, be ready. – Matthew Peacher
