What does it really take?

I have been reading through both the Old and New Covenant (Testament) this year. I’m really taking an interest in the stories of the nation of Israel and their interaction with God through the prophet Moses and God’s dealings with their rebellion towards Him, even in light of the many proofs of His protection, care and deliverance.

That alone would tell us that left unto ourselves, we can never be left unto ourselves, lest we perish.

RebellionIsrael seems to have a very short memory that needs constant reminding to behave and obey if they are to enjoy the protection and provision of a Holy God.  Even from the beginning, we are shown how rapidly things fall into chaos, once left to our free-will. Rebellion against God always ensues, and the rapid downward spiral to depravity occurs if  intervention outside ourselves doesn’t come to our rescue. That alone would tell us that left unto ourselves we can never be left unto ourselves, lest we perish.
